We decided to make a Graffiti wiki for those who are new to graffiti and for those who want to learn more about it!
First off were going to show you a documentary which will give you the main concept of graffiti and what its all about. This is not our video we just use it to help educate you and as a brief introductory to graffiti.
Just to recap some of the terms and words used by artist in this video and throughout the graffiti we thought we would some it all up for you in a graffiti dictionary.
(Adjective) The Distinction of writing in all five boroughs or on all major subway lines , also taken literally.
(Noun) A disagreement or conflict (also known as dissing another writer (derived from "dis"agreement)
(Verb) To take pieces or chunks from another writers work and use it in yours. (biting)
(Noun) A writers sketchnbook, which is used for personal artistic development and the collecting of other artists' work.
(Verb) To write prolifically, measured in terms of quantity over quality.
(Noun) A technically and stylistically well-executed wild style piece that generally done in bright colors.
(Noun) Interchangeable spray can nozzles fitted to paint cans to vary width of spray.
(Noun) An organised group of writers.
(Noun) E.g Polka dots, checkers, stars, or swirls placed over a fill in to enhance and complement it.
(Noun) A gradation of colors.
(Noun) A row of throw ups of the same name by the same writer.
(Noun) A railroad freight car.
(Verb) Achieving high visibility through proliferation of name.
(Noun) A handwriting or tagging style.
(Noun) A tag, throw up or piece. ( said as "lets hit it" )
(Verb) To bomb excessively ( said as "killing it" )
(Noun) The most accomplished writer in a given category.
(Noun) Short for "Masterpiece" an artistic and complex form of writing featuring stylized letters, colors, depth, and a variety of designs
(Noun) A large scale mural with detailed pieces and illustrations.
(Noun) A writers name and signature.
(Noun) A quickly executed piece consisting of an outline with or without a thin layer of spray paint for fill in.
(Noun) A derogatory term for an inexperienced or bad writer.
(Noun) A complicated construction of interlocking letters.
(Noun) A practitioner of the art of graffiti writing.
